The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), the arm of federal government responsible for the procurement of products and the management of government-owned buildings, recently announced that GREENGUARD certified products will now beaccepted as part of the GSA Advantage! Environmental Program. GSA Advantage! is an online purchasing service accessible to all federal agencies and, under certain circumstances, state and local purchasers.

The inclusion of GREENGUARD aims to help federal procurement employees find products that comply with Executive Order 13514, which requires that 95 percent of new contract actions be “energy-efficient, water-efficient, bio-based, environmentally preferable, non-ozone depleting, contain recycled content, or non-toxic or less-toxic.”
