John Howell

John Howell began his woodworking career in 1973 as an apprentice to a master cabinetmaker and has worked for a number of larger woodworking companies that specialized in architectural millwork, furniture, store fixtures and fenestration. He worked his way up from cabinetmaker and finisher to product designer, 3-D Modeler and Director of Research and Development.
John now runs a consulting business helping woodworking companies design products with full 3-D models that allow accurate visualization and efficient integration into the manufacturing process. Integral to design is finishing, where John helps companies bring out the beauty of the wood to its fullest. Finishing also presents a substantial challenge when it comes to LEED compliance and other green standards. As a LEED Accredited Professional, John helps ensure that finishers meet those standards.
